Lynwood exchanged time for eternity on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Methodist Northlake Hospital, with his sister, Vinella Neal by his side.
He had been a resident of Aperion Care Tolleston Park for quite a while, where he was cared for by the dedicated and compassionate medical staff.
Lynwood was born August 16, 1944, in Cuthbert, Georgia, to the late Willie James "Jim" Winslett and Beatrice Bowen Winslett.
He was committed to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Christian Valley M.B. Church under the Patriot, Pastor Dr. C.H. Taylor. Lynwood loved to sing and play guitar. He played guitar and sang with many groups, other than with his brothers and sisters (The Winslett Family Gospel Singers), The Gales of Joy, The Spiritual Jubiliars, The Biblical Heirs, The Saints of Glory, and others.
Preceded in death by his parents, Willie James "Jim" Winslett and Beatrice Bowen Winslett; and eldest brother, J.L. Winslett, Sr.
Lynwood leaves to mourn his passing: 2 brothers, Theodis (Lena) Winslett, and John Earl Winslett; 3 sisters, Mary Pauline Winslett-Anderson, Vinella B. Winslett-Neal, Susie M. Winslett-Johnson, and adopted sister, Rose Dumas, adopted brother, Jerry Jernigan, and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Lynwood was a graduate of Froebel High School and after working a few jobs, he decided to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corp, and served 4 years. After returning home he loved helping people and was very generous with his talent and finances... when he saw the need, he quickly volunteered without being asked. Lynwood will be truly missed.
