Mable Beeks Obituary

Mableine (“Mable”) Pulliam Beeks, died October 16, 2022. She was born October 18, 1923 in Egypt, Mississippi to the late Mattie Lee Spencer and Palmer Pulliam.

As a young lady, her family would later move to Aberdeen, Mississippi where she went to work as an educator in the Aberdeen Mississippi Community School System and where she would later marry the late Lee Beeks, Sr. During this time, grandmother would come to Gary, Indiana just during the summers to visit her uncle's family and she grew to love being out of the racist south. Ultimately, in an effort to escape Jim Crow, Mable Beeks relocated to Gary, Indiana with her new husband and toddler sons, Lee Beeks, Jr. , and Henry Earl. After moving to Gary, Indiana in December 1951, Mable Beeks joined Trinity Missionary Baptist Church and became a longtime loyal and faithful member. In addition to the church, she also enjoyed being active in local politics. Eventually, she grew her family to include two more sons, Henry Earl and Edwin Maurice Beeks.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Palmer Pulliam Jr., sister Rosie Mae Crump (Henry); sons Henry Earl and Edwin Maurice Beeks, daughter- in- law, Charlena Beeks and
granddaughter Tiffany Beeks.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her eldest son, Lee Andrew Beeks Jr.;  grandson, Avery (Esperanza) Beeks; granddaughters, Paula Kellie Beeks, Tracy Morris Joiner, LaToria Johnson, Daniele Kimbrough; great- grandchildren: Ave'Sha (Darius) Dilosa, Avery Beeks Jr., Antwan Beeks, Senee Chrishellel Beeks, Logan and Kennedy Joiner; Elshamichael, Kloey, Michael Nelson and La'Sharmony Farmer, A'King Kimbrough; and great- great grandchildren Kyler Beeks, Ayden Beeks, Dakota, Skylar, and Aubrei Dilosa sister-in-law, Immogene Pulliam; nieces, Maia Lynette (Hank) Patterson and Pam Pulliam; favorite nephews, Kenneth and David Crump; she also leaves to mourn cousins, "Sugar Doll, and Pat, special friends, Jennifer Mobley and Ms. Myrtle Thompson; and many other family members and friends.

Grandmother was an avid crossword puzzle solver, news junkie, and best friend to all that knew her. Her loss is immeasurable and our hearts are broken.
