Marciano Martinez

Marciano "Rocky" Martinez, age 77, of Hobart, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023. "Rocky" was born on February 28, 1945, in Brownsville, Texas, to the late Concepcion (nee Castillo) and Marciano Martinez. "Rocky" retired from Inland Steel with 35 years of dedicated service.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Juan Martinez; son-in-law, Jeremy Criswell, and his siblings, San Juan Martinez and Maria A. Ramirez; and 2 nephews, Manuel Martinez and David Collazo.

Marciano is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Angie (nee Cano) Martinez; his children, Marciano Jr., and Leticia (Jeremy) Martinez; his 5 grandchildren, Destiny, Jeremy, Alexcis, Aliya and Zavior; his siblings, Juan A. (Herlinda) Martinez, James (Marcella) Martinez, Jose M. (Marilyn) Martinez, Concepcion "Cha Cha" (Sebastin) Collazo, Manuel (Carmen) Martinez, Maria "Blasa" (Perry) Peters, and Mario Martinez; many nieces; nephews; friends; and his precious dogs, Layla and Loca.

"Rocky" enjoyed many activities, including camping, fishing, bags, bingo, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it, without wanting anything in return. Fixing things and grilling (with his secret sauce) were also things he enjoyed. "Rocky" will be remembered as a caring, generous, and a jokester with the cheesiest smile. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. We will always love you, VIVA.

Visitation Thursday, February 23, 2023, 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. with Funeral Services Friday, February 24, 2023, 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m  from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408.  Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery.
