Margie Marie Wooley was born on October 12, 1929, in Wilburton, Oklahoma to the union of James Utah Gray and Eardie Campbell Gray. Margie made her transition on Thursday, June 24, 2021.
Margie was united in matrimony to Herman Carl Wooley on August 12, 1947. They were blessed with two beautiful children. After sixty years of marriage, the Lord called Herman to his reward. Margie was a very devoted wife and mother, and maintained a very pristine home. She also worked as a teacher's aide for the Hammond Public School system for many years.
As a young girl in Oklahoma, Margie accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and Lord. When she and Herman relocated to Indiana, she united with Galilee Baptist Church in Gary, IN. She later became a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Hammond, where she continued to serve until her health prevented her from doing so.
Those who will continue to chersih her memories include: her son, Dwain Wooley; daughter, Genetra Wooley-Hickson; five grandchildren, Antoinesse Wooley, Denzel Lewis, Aaron Wooley, Ryne Wooley, and Dwain Wooley II; eight great-grandchildren, James L. Gause IV, Isaiah Lewis, Auron Lewis, Nasiya Gause, Ava Lewis, LeaRon Wooley, Noreal Wooley, and Tyron Wooley; brother, Theophiles Gray; two sisters, Edith Hankins and Gloria Gray; goddaughter, Ruby Peppers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Wooley, her parents, James Utah Gray and Eardie Campbell Gray; three brothers, Andrew Gray, T.J. Gray, and James Utah Gray, Jr.; and sister, Dorothy Brown.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 1, 2021, 9:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. from New Hope Baptist Church 1117 Merrill Street Hammond, IN. Burial Concordia Cemetery Hammond, Indiana. May God bless the Wooley families.
