Maria Mondragon

Maria Mondragon, born on July 29, 1931, in Carrizo, Texas, to Abraham Torres and Josefa Menchaca, was a woman of grace, generosity, and unwavering faith. On December 29, 2024, Maria was called to rest by her Heavenly Father while in Hendersonville, North Carolina.

Maria was a beloved daughter of the late Abraham Torres and Josefa Menchaca. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Manuel Sanchez, Josephine Martinez, Abraham Torres, Alvaro Torres, and Jesus Torres. Maria was also blessed with a large family and was also preceded in death by her firstborn son, Alexander M. Mondragon.

She is survived by her loving children: Alicia Mondragon, Mario (Renee) Mondragon, George (Lynn) Mondragon, Arthur (Libby) Mondragon, Gustavo Mondragon, Teresa (David) Gonzalez, and Francisco (Wes) Gonzalez, as well as 13 cherished grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

Visitation will be Monday, January 13, 2025, 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. with Homegoing Services 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408. Interment will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery 4401 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408.

Maria's legacy of love, kindness, and faith will continue to live on in the lives of those she touched.
