Maria Romero

Maria Romero, age 89, of Laporte, Indiana, was called home on Friday, July 12, 2024. 

Preceded in death by her husband, Vicente (Montes) Romero; mother, Santos Baray of Juarez, Mexico; father, Ramon Hernandez of Delicias, Mexico; and grandson, Stephen Romero

Her main interests were her family and neighbors in East Chicago. She loved going to the casino and playing bingo; recently she loved doing diamond art. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in East Chicago. Maria was an excellent cook, especially for her family. She loved watching the birds from her bedroom window; and was always excited when there were deer roaming around.

Maria is survived by her five children: Ernesto (Rosalinda) Romero, Isabel (Jeffrey) Topp, Vincent (Lisa) Romero, Jr., Daniel (Sara) Romero, and Luis (Connie) Romero; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
