Mario J. Baiz

Mario J. Baiz, of East Chicago, Indiana, passed away at Community Hospital in Munster, Indiana on Sunday, December 27, 2020.  He was born in East Chicago, Indiana, on February 2, 1951 to Jesus and Consuelo (Cruz) Baiz.  On December 22, 1990, he married the love of his life, Adriana (Iruegas) and she survives to cherish his memories.  He is also surivived by his sons Guillermo (Ileana) Iruegas and Mario Jesus Baiz; daughters, Veronica  Vidaurri, Susan, Baiz and Marisa A. (Jose Acosta) Baiz; mother-in-law, Gualberta Gutierrez; sister-in-law, Vicky Iruegas, and Laura Gutierrez; brother-in-law, Mario (Aurora) Gutierrez; grandchildren, Arthur Bastardo, Domingo Mora, Adrik Mora, David and Ariana Baiz, Brandon Acosta; Great-Grandchildren, Sofia Shearear, Ayla and Domingo Mora, Serenity Hurtado; sister, Cynthia B. Espinoza; brother-in-law, Carlos Perez; numerous nieces, nephews, great grand nephews, cousins and other relatives.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Consuelo Baiz; sister, Rosario Perez; and brother-in-law, Luis Iruegas.  Mario worked at ArcelorMittal Steel as a Control Room Operator for 35 Years.  He also worked at the Rodriguez Security Agency for 3 years.  He coached East Chicago Little League Baseball for 6 years and St. John Cantius, and Harbor Catholic.  He ran the scoreboard for St. Stanislaus in East Chicago. He was a good friend to everyone.  He did handyman work for many family members and friends.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.  He was a great mentor to his children and nephews.  He took very good care of his little sister, Cynthia.  He was always there when needed.  He had a great sense of humor and was always joking.  The family will receive friends and family at the Ridgelawn Funeral Home, 4201 West Ridge Road, Gary, Indiana - 219 980-5555 on Thursday, December 31, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.  Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. with Father Pat Garza officiating.  He will be put to rest at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Gary, Indiana.  Mario will be dearly missed by his loving family and dear friends.  The funeral home will be limiting occupancy to 50 persons.  Masks and social distancing will be required.
