Mario Gonzalez

Mario Gonzalez, age 68, of Black Oak, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.  Mario was born on June 14, 1954, to his parents, Helen and Lorenzo Gonzalez.

After high school, Mario enlisted in the United States Army, where he received numerous medals including, sharpshooter and a defense service medal while serving in Korea.

 He was preceded in death by his father, Lorenzo Gonzalez; and brothers, Fred and Ricky Gonzalez.

Mario is survived by his mother, Helen Gonzalez; sister, Aurora Adame; his 3 children, Desiree, Mario Jr., and Matthew Gonzalez; grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Mario cared for all animals, loved great music, and his jokes lightened up any room.  He will be deeply missed.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 for Visitation 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408.  Military Honors will be promptly at 4:30 p.m.  Interment private.
