Mary Christine Faulkner Alford “Chris” was born to Coley Faulkner and Pearlie Finley on February 10th 1927, in Holly Springs Mississippi.
Mary accepted Christ into her life at an early age and continued through her years praying and singing the gospel of the Lord. She graduated from Mississippi Industrial College in 1946. She began her career as a school teacher, in Holly Springs Mississippi, a cook in Michigan, and eventually retired from U.S Steel after nearly twenty years of service.
She was a long standing member and a nurse for New Hope Baptist Church under Rev. Clarence Lobdell.
She was married to James E. Alford on April 1st 1946. To this union eight children were born (six boys and three girls) Mary was called home on the morning of August 13th, 2022, to rest.
Greeting her at heavens gates were both her parents, three siblings, her husband, James ; son,Larry; daughters, Mary Constance & Tesherrel and grandson, Taiwan. She loved being around her family and friends. Mary was a caregiver for not only her mother and husband, she also took care of so many others throughout her life. She was a true humanitarian and a loving “Granny" to all.
She leaves to mourn: five loving and devoted children James “Tiny" (Lilly) Alford, Michael Alford, Mark (Tuwana) Alford, Thomas (Lanita) Alford, Lisa (William Jefferson) Alford; twelve grandsons; five granddaughters; twenty great grandchildren; two great- great grandchildren; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends
. May we so live to enjoy that day when the Lord may say to us, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (Matt. 25:21.)
