Mary Cecilia Sanchez

Mary Cecilia Sanchez, left this earth to join God in heaven on November 3, 2021, in Edinburg, Texas.  She was brought home to her final resting place at Ridgelawn Cemetery.

Mary was born to Maria and Conrado Buitron on June 5, 1936, in East Chicago, Indiana. Mary graduated from Hammond Technical High School in 1954.  She attended Hoosier Beauty School, and her first job was at Merchandise Mart in Chicago. She helped her husband, Israel run a successful business, U.S. Bar, where she was known for her great tacos ! She was employed by Purdue University, where she also took computer classes before retiring.

Mary is survived by her husband of 65 years, Israel Sanchez; son, Daniel David Sanchez; daughter, Cindy Carrasquillo (Juan Carrasquillo); grandchildren, Roberto, Christopher, Christian, and Celina; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Catori, and Sebastian; siblings, Sue Silva, Adela Sanchez, and Conrad Buitron, and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her everyday, because she was a bright light in all of our lives.  Everyone who knew her admired and respected the special kind of person she was.  Well-liked, loved, and a pleasure to be around and will always be remembered.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 11, 2021, 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. with Funeral Mass on Friday, November 12, 2021, 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana with burial immediately following services at Ridgelawn Cemetery.

MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL ATTENDEES VACCINATED OR UNVACCINATED AND WILL BE ENFORCED.
