Michael Alexander Flanagan

Michael Alexander Flanagan, age 29, of Gary, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, April 23, 2022.  He was born on February 21, 1993, in Munster, Indiana.  He attended Calumet High School, Gary, Indiana, and went on to work various jobs throughout the years.  Michael loved creating memories with family and friends around the bonfire.  He was known for having a good heart, helping others, and always on the go.

He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, McKenna Alexandria Flanagan of Griffith, Indiana, and Michelle Christine of Columbia, Kentucky; two sons, Vincent and Michael Alexander of East Chicago, Indiana; beloved mother, Christy L. Flanagan of Gary, Indiana;  father, Alvaro "AL" Serrano  Hernandez of East Chicago, Indiana; stepmother, Carinna Hernandez of East Chicago, Indiana; brother, Marcus Anthony Flanagan of Gary, Indiana; two sisters, Yessenia and Arianna Hernandez of East Chicago; grandmothers, Carolyn Bernal of Gary, Indiana, and Ana S. Serrano of Portage, Indiana; grandfather, Timothy Flanagan of Athens, Alabama; girlfriend, Mariana Melgoza of East Chicago, Indiana; and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and too many friends to list.  

Michael was preceded in death by his grandfather, Manuel Serrano of Illinois.

Michael will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.  Although his physical presence may no longer be with us, his memory will remain in our hearts forever.

Visitation Tuesday, May 3, 2022, 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408 with Funeral Mass Wednesday, May 4, 2022, 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. from St Francis Xavier Church 2447 Putman Street Lake Station, Indiana 46405.  Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery.
