Nina Greer Obituary

Nina Greer, 48, was born on May 4, 1977, in Gary, Indiana, to Kroger Jeane and James Williams. She transitioned on March 31, 2026, at the University of Chicago, in Chicago, Illinois.

A lifelong resident of the Miller Beach community, Nina was raised in the place she proudly called home. She grew up as a member of Clark Road Baptist Church and later became a member of St. John Baptist Church of Gary, Indiana, under the leadership of Rev. Regan Robinson. She attended St. Mary of the Lake School in Gary, Indiana, and graduated from Andrean High School in Merrillville, Indiana, in 1995, where she was active in clubs and student government. Nina continued her education at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 1999.

Nina built a distinguished career in retail, rising from store management to corporate leadership in Minneapolis with Target Corporation- an exceptional accomplishment early in her career. She later spent 17 years with Luxottica Group as a Regional Manager for Sunglass Hut and Target Optical. Most recently, she began a new chapter with Ingram Micro as a Business Development Executive. Nina was widely respected for her leadership, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

Nina was a proud member mom of the Gary-Northwest Indiana Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., where she found purpose in uplifting youth and building community. Her daughter, Scarlett, also participates as a Jill, creating a shared journey of growth, leadership, and cherished memories.

Nina was a devoted supporter and advocate of Miller Beach businesses, uplifting her community and building lasting friendships with people from all walks of life. Her vibrant spirit lit up every room she entered, and she was consistently met with warmth and admiration. She proudly served as a Board Member for the Miller Beach Arts & Creative District from 2015 to 2020. Nina was a true and cherished staple of the community.

During the last decade of her life, Nina dedicated countless hours training and competing in marathon running. She was inspired to run in honor of her beloved late son, Liam, and used her passion to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House. She embraced the terrain, the challenge, and the greater purpose of giving back to an organization that supported her family. Nina could often be seen running through the Miller Beach neighborhood and along surrounding city trails. She proudly and successfully completed six Chicago Marathons during her lifetime.

Nina also had a love for travel and visited many countries and islands throughout her life. She especially looked forward to traveling with her mother and daughter. Together, they began an annual tradition of traveling to New Orleans, where they enjoyed the rich culture, cuisine and vibrant atmosphere.

Above all, Nina's greatest pride and purpose in life were her children. Alongside her beloved son, Liam, she was the proud and devoted mother of her beautiful daughter, Scarlett. Nina poured her heart into motherhood, dedicating her time, energy, and unwavering love to uplifting and guiding her. Nina was Scarlett's greatest supporter, constantly encouraging her success and instilling values, strength, and confidence that will continue to live on as her lasting legacy.

Nina was beautiful, genuine, and effortlessly relatable, with a radiant spirit and a sense of humor that was truly unmatched. She had a way of making everyone feel seen, valued, and at ease in her presence. Nina lived life boldly and unapologetically, embracing every moment with passion, love and authenticity, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
