Patricia Ann Smith
Born to Edward Smith and Lena Block on February 24, 1962, Patricia Ann Smith Boog,
affectionately known as Patsy, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. Having
given her life to the Lord at a young age and later rededicating her life to Christ, Pat believed the
only way to live a joyous, purpose-filled life is through having a personal relationship with Jesus
Christ. She was a member of Family Christian Center in Munster, Indiana where Pastor Steve
Munsey is the Senior Pastor.
Pat was a proud product of the Gary Indiana community as well as a graduate of Lew Wallace
High School, the Medical Career Institute (Chicago), Ivy Tech College (Gary), and Calumet of
St. Joseph College (Whiting),
Pat was a nurse by trade and had a diverse framework of professional experiences ranging
from working as a hospital and private care nurse, to working as a nursing administrator, as
well as owning an ambulatory service- Preferred Medical Transit- which was bought-out and
became Prompt Ambulance Service.
Furthermore, Pat was a real estate guru in her own right, flipping over 18 houses in her lifetime.
Certainly, she would never gloat about it, but Pat, amazingly, worked as a full-time nurse, as
an entrepreneur, and as a single mother of many, caring for as many as 5 fostered/ adopted
children as mothering her first and only born child, Aeriol.. Pat fostered and adopted children
who needed godly guidance and love. She was, indeed, an independent, driven,
knowledgeable, and giving woman of God.
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” Psalms 116:15
After having some significant health challenges and miracle-after-miracle since her initial
diagnosis in 2012, Pat transitioned to heaven last week at Methodist Hospital in Merrillville, IN.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lena Block, her father, Edward Smith, her maternal
and paternal grandparents, as well as her big brother, Tyrone Dye. She leaves to cherish her
memory her two beautiful daughters, Aeriol Smith and Tracey Boog, one sister, Cynthia
Johnson, and one brother, Robert Dye Jr., as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Although she was loved by many, her niece-Tykeshia Dye, her cousin-Sharon Boudreux, and
her friends Drs.Karen Foster and Donna Dennie, and Glory Chambers were especially close to
Pat.
“For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I
shall know just as I also am known.” I Cor. 13:12 (NKJV)
“”Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where
Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.” Col. 3:1 (NIV)
The family wants to thank everyone for every thought, prayer, or act of kindness that was
rendered on our behalf. Pat will be missed greatly by all, but when you think of her, remember
this: Now she sees the one she loves face-to-face and we will see her again! Hallelujah!
