Porfirio Mitre, 95, of Portage, Indiana, passed away on October 10, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Maryanne Mitre; son Steven Mitre; son-in-law Domingo Lopez; grandson, and Phillip Lopez

. Porfirio is survived by his children Victoria Lopez, Sylvia A. Mitre-Spudic (David V. Spudic), Porfirio “Robert” Mitre Jr.; grandchildren Marc (Cindy) Lopez, Rebecca Lopez, April Lopez, CPT. Steven (Amber) Mitre, SGT. Aaron Steven Mitre, Adrianne (René) Cabrera, Michael (Michelle) Mitre, and Matthew Tapper; great-grandchildren, Holley, Ramon “Talli”, Domingo “DJ”, Kendle, Tomas “Pez”, Angelica (William), Sandra, Diego, Ricky, Andy, Briella, Maxwell, Eden, Koda, Raven, Rocco, Benicio, Liana, Jaiden, Isaiah, Amaya; great-great-grandchildren, Anthony, Kylee, Greyson, Liam.

Porfirio’s life revolved around being a man of great faith. He showed his friends, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren immense amounts of love and kindness. He devoted much of his time to preaching the gospel, praying for the sick, and bringing hope to all who needed strength and encouragement. Porfirio touched countless lives in his precious 95 years on earth, and his love and wisdom will continue through the legacy of his family and descendants to thrive on for generations to come. Until we meet him again in heaven, he will live on in every one of our hearts.

Visitation Tuesday, October 18, 2022, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with Funeral Service 12:00 p.m.- 1:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana.  Interment Ridgelawn Cemetey.
