Raymond "Ace" Acevedo passed away peacefully on October 21, 2021 at Park Place of Saint John. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Vincenta Acevedo; brother, John (Gloria) Acevedo; sisters, Maria (Abe) Morales, Mary (Stanley) Rios, Frances Acevedo; and nephew, John Acevedo.
Ray served in the United States Army and was a member of American Legion Post 369, for which he served as historian, and retired from Inland Steel in East Chicago with many years of dedicated service. He was an avid Chicago sports fan, but his CUBBIES were his #1 team. His passion after family was photography, which he was known for by families throughout Northwest Indiana. He was an avid reader and enjoyed travel, especially to Sanibel Island in Florida and Arizona. Raymond will be missed by his family and numerous friends.
Raymond leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories; four nephews and niece; five great nephews and nieces; six great-great nephews and nieces; one great- great-great nephew; and his special friend, Georgia Heflen.
Visitation will be Monday, October 25, 2021 5:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. with Funeral Mass Tuesday, October 26, 2021 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. Both services held from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana. Burial immediately following with Military Honors from Ridgelawn Cemetery.
