Reginald Foster, Sr. Obituary

Reginald Louis Foster, Sr. ("REGGIE") was born in Gary, Indiana on February 12, 1954.  His parents were John Britt, Ruthie Mae Colvin, and Namon and Martha Foster.  He was baptized in Jesus' name and filled with the Holy Ghost under the leadership of Elder Willie James Lockett in the early 1970's.  He was married to the love of his life, Sheila for 48 years. Recently celebrating their wedding anniversary on January 30, 2021.  His family was the light of his life.  Reggie always looked forward to and enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his love for family, he had a passion for music.  He began his musical studies at Froebel Jr. High School.  He continued his musical studies at Emerson High School where he excelled until he graduated.  He enjoyed playing his saxophone for many years and showed his pride by having a personalized license plate that displayed his musical persona "Dr. Sax".  It has been said that when he played the sax, it was smooth as butter.  He was blessed to have played at the Chicago Gospel Fest for a number of years and to have released a gospel album, Part of Life, in 1996 through his production company, Foster's Ink Productions.

In addition to his musical talent, Reggie had other talents.  He used to work for Funnez Plumbing.  He later started his own business as a general contractor specilaizing in plumbing.  He was a hard worker and often worked long hours and sometimes two jobs.  He continued general contracting contracting until 2009, when he became seriously ill and ended up no longer able to physically perform the strenuous work.  He was also a self-taught computer technical professional.  Reggie mentored young men at the church that went on to further their career and became computer technical professionals.  He worked for the Apostolic Faith Church for over 25 years and has held several positions including sound engineer, information technology manager, and most recently, video editor.

He battled several serious illnesses in the past 12 + years.  He passed away unexpectedly on April 9, 2021, at the age of 67, due to complications of Covid-19 pneumonia.  His body could not recover and he is now at rest.

Reggie is survived by his spouse, Sheila, his children, Reginald (Willette) Foster, Jr., Sararita Vanderbilt, Mia (Gerald, Jr.) Bailey, Eddie foster, Tameka (Brandon, Sr.) Meeks, Brady (Stephanie) Foster, Sr., his aunt, Yvonne Marvin, siblings, sisters, Barbara Britt, Heather Johnson, and Carolyn King,  brother, Sean Shivers, his niece, Charity Crowdus, who share a love for the tech, 27 grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Britt, Ruthie Mae Colvin, and Namon and Martha Foster, and his children, John Foster, Sr., Chandra Harris, and Sara Air Vanderbilt.

Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. from Apostolic Faith Church 3843 S. Indiana Chicago, IL. 60653.  Anyone who attends the services must log on to www.afcchicago.org to complete a wellness survey prior to entering the building.  For those who do not have access to email, can complete the survey on arrival before entering the building. (This will delay entry into the building).
