Reynaldo L. Muñoz

 Reynaldo L. Muñoz, age 93, of Gary, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his residence on October 29, 2021.

Reynaldo is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Yolanda L. Muñoz, 10 children: Blas (Irene) Muñoz (Merrillville, IN), Reynaldo (Rosie) Muñoz, Jr. (Weslaco, TX), Baldemar (Janean) Muñoz (Hobart, IN), Rosalinda (Louie) Acevez (San Antonio, TX), Ruben Muñoz (Gary, IN), Delia (Louis) Alcorta (Crown Point, IN), Israel (Darcy) Muñoz (Jordan, NY), Jessica (Ramon) Santiago (Whiting, IN), Cecilia (Alfredo) Muñoz (Whiting, IN), and Norma (Tom) Muñoz (Whiting, IN).  He created a multi-generational legacy, to include a total of 79 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

He was born and raised in Marlowe, Texas, where he met and married, Guadalupe (nee Serna), in 1947.  Soon after, they relocated to Northwest Indiana, where he would work at Inland Steel for 36 dedicated years of service, retiring in 1986.  After the untimely passing of his beloved Lupita, in 1967, he once again found love and married, Yolanda Lopez, of Elsa Texas in 1975.

He was a devoted Catholic, and volunteer at Holy Rosary Church in Gary, IN.  In his younger adult years, he enjoyed fishing and was an avid fisherman.  He loved to dance to Tejano music, travel and spend time with his family-often having large gatherings on any given Sunday, with barbacoa, carnitas, and tamales.  His menudo was sought after and only made once a year, for New Year's Day, and was a huge family favorite.  Some of the most memorable could be the 4th of July, hosting his famous pig roasts and fireworks display.  Those times will be cherished , and he will be sorely missed.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Guadalupe "Lupita" Muñoz, daughter, Blanca Muñoz, son, Richard Muñoz, and his parents, Encarnacion and Blasa Muñoz (nee Lerma), siblings, Encarnacion Muñoz, Daniel Muñoz, and Osbelia Beresky.

Visitation will be Friday, November 5, 2021, 11:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. with Funeral Mass 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana.  Burial immediately following services at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Gary, Indiana.  Mariachi band will play to honor his memory and fulfill his love of music... una ves mas, one more time.

  MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL ATTENDEES VACCINATED OR UNVACCINATED AND WILL BE ENFORCED !!
