Richard "Rick" Guerrero, Jr., 66, of Lake Station, Indiana, passed on March 8, 2026. Born on December 4, 1959, in East Chicago, Indiana, Rick lived a life filled with cherished moments and meaningful connections.
Rick was the beloved son of the late Juanita Gil and Richard Guerrero. He was also preceded in death by his son, Richard "Ricky" Guerrero, and his grandparents, Paul and Andrea Velasquez. Despite these losses, Rick's life was enriched by the love and companionship of his family.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Felicia Arias-Guerrero; his brothers, Dean (Denine) Guerrero and their son, Steven and Ruben James (Jeanette) and children, Cassandra, Bianca, Ruben and Carlos; his sister, Lisa (Tony) Serna and children, Anthony and Daniel; his dearest uncle, Paul (Dawn) Velasquez; his stepson, Jesus Castillo and Elsa Quiroz and daughter, Lucy; stepdaughter, Marina Castillo; as well as grandchildren, Alana (William) Dutro and children, Kira and Damian, Danny Contreras, Acelia Castillo (Kenyonte Watkins) and children, Karmen and Kai'Lani, Amari Cruz, and Alex Castillo. Rick's family was a cornerstone oof his life, bringing him joy through shared memories across generations.
Rick had a zest for life that shone through in everything he did. He loved watching action movies that kept him on the edge of his seat. The beach was one of his favorite places to unwind-whether it was the sound of waves or the warmth of the sun that drew him there. Music played a significant role in Rick's life; he enjoyed attended concerts, or playing music in his own backyard where he could immerse himself in the rhythm of the performances. He delighted in creating meals that brought people together. From summer barbecues filled with flavorful music to cozy winter evenings spent enjoying a movie and a meal with his cat Rico by his side, Rick knew how to savor life's simple pleasures.
Those who knew Rick will remember him as someone who could always be counted on for good advice or a hearty laugh. He had a gift for living in the moment- whether it was sharing stories over a bonfire or engaging in heartfelt conversations during quiet evenings at home.
Rick's memory will forever be treasured by those who were fortunate enough to share in his journey. May his legacy of love, laughter, and living fully bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
