Rigoberto "Rigo" Rodriguez, Sr.

Rigoberto "Rigo" Rodriguez Sr., age, 89, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2022, surrounded by his family.  Rigo was born in Puerto Rico on February 25, 1933, to Angel Rodriguez and Josephina (Cortez) Rodriguez.

The eldest of 12 children, Rigo was raised in the town of Jayuya.  He enlisted in the military and was a Corporal in the United States Army.

Upon returning to America, Rigo settled in East Chicago and worked at Inland Steel for 40 years.

Rigo was a family man and a Chicago Cubs fan.  He enjoyed Suduko and crossword puzzles.   He was our family's handyman, plumber, painter, electrician and carpenter.  There wasn't anything he couldn't fix with duct tape, a couple of screws and a coat of paint.

Rigo is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elsa (Torres) Rodriguez, and five children: Rigoberto (Cherie) Rodriguez, Jr., Myrna Rodriguez, Noel (Emily) Rodriguez, Brenda (Steven) Williamson, and Esteban Rodriguez; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.

Visitation Thursday, November 10, 2022, 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. with Funeral Services 12:00 p.m. -1:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408.  Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery.
