With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and dearest friend to all, Rita Hill. She passed away on Wednesday, December 28th, 2022, at 12:27 p.m. A prayer warrior, with an unwavering love for the Lord, she would attend as many services her lamenting body would allow. An icon of love, compassion, kindness, and faith in her community, she influenced the lives of many until she passed at the tender age of 73.
She was preceded by her husband, Joel Hill; brother, David Samaniego; and parents, Rafael and Aurora Samaniego.
Rita leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories, her two beloved children, Wayne Douglas Hill, and Aurora Lynn Hill ; three grandchildren, Dina Renee (Hill) Southern, Wayne Pete Massey, and Odin Lee Hill ; four great-grandchildren, Donovan Dante Southern, Julian Wayne Massey, Adrian Wayne Massey, and Alayna Cynthia Massey; two sisters, Aurora Vega and Alice Escamilla; brother, Louis Samaniego; and a host of many other relatives, church family, and friends.
Memorial Services will be Thursday, January 5, 2023, 4:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. from her favorite house of worship, The Lighthouse Baptist Church (formerly known as Old Fashioned Missionary Baptist Church) 3000 Calhoun Street Gary, Indiana. Pastor Ray Tucker, Officiating.
