Robert Corbett Shelton

Robert Corbett Shelton, aka "Bobby Joe Amoco", passed away on May 10, 2023 in Merrillville, Indiana. A resident of Merrillville for more than 25 years, Robert was born to Willie and Doris Shelton on October 19, 1962. He grew up in Casper, Wyoming and graduated from Natrina County High School. He worked for Amoco, now BP, for over 35 years at locations in Wyoming, Texas, and Illinois.

Bob had a soul of gold. He loved hard and gave with all he had. Visits to theme parks with Bob meant leaving with arms-full of stuffed toys won from carnival games. he was so generous, loving, and full of youthful spirit.

When he was younger, Bob loved hot rod cars. he loved to work on cars and had a big collection. He relished in taking his nieces and nephews out to cruise the strip in Casper, Wyoming. All cool cars would be out showing off. He would play rock music and let the soft wind blow through the car.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Doris Shelton; and partner, Rebecca Martinez.

Robert was the youngest of five children. He is survived by his son, Kyle Shelton; daughter, Nicole Shelton; 3 sisters; Sandra Sherman, Cherie Norman, and Debbie Sneve; brother, William Shelton; grandson, Kaiden; and a host of other family members and dear friends.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him..

Visitation Friday, May 19, 2023, 11:45 a.m.- 1:45 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana.  Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery.
