Rodger L. Mahler, affectionately known as "Big Rog", passed away on January 9, 2022. He was born in Hammond, Indiana to Alfred and Nora Faye Mahler on June 6, 1958.
He leaves to cherish his memory: the love of his life and significant other, Terri Hayes; his sons, Chris Mahler, Wesley (Casey Heston) Mahler, Dustin Mahler, Roger (Jeanette Bodnar) Mahler, three sisters, Bonnie (Tom) Parrish, Melissa Mahler, and Martha Slaton; uncle, Luther (Mary Ann) Hamilton; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his BEST FRIEND, beloved dog, Bear.
Rodger is preceded in death by his son, Curtis Mahler; parents, Alfred and Nora Faye Mahler; and sister, Gayle Gibson.
Rodger will be best remembered for doing things HIS own way. Over the years he acquired many lifelong friendships. He will be missed by many. He was a member of the American Legion Post 440. Rodger loved to go fishing when he had spare time. He was an avid car buff and was the owner and operator of Mahler and Sons Auto. He was associated with Paul's Auto Yard for many years.
Donations in memory of Rodger may be given to the family or the animal shelter of your choice.
Visitation will be Friday, January 14, 2022, 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. with Funeral Services Saturday, January 15, 2022 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indian 46408. Interment will be at Holland Cemetery in DeMotte, Indiana.
