Ronald Lamont Parker, a devoted father, son, brother, and veteran, peacefully gained his wings on February 16, 2026.
Ron was born on July 8, 1950, in Gary, Indiana to Novella Parker and Henry Parker, who both preceded him in death.
He graduated from Roosevelt High School and shortly thereafter enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country in the Vietnam War. He built his career at Gary Methodist Hospital where he later retired and enjoyed his hobbies of fishing and being a disc jockey known as "Dr. Feelgood".
He leaves to honor his memory: one son, Terry Porterfield; two daughters, Ronda and Ronisha Parker; sister, Sharon Newbern; nephew, Ryan (Janee') Newbern; niece, Robyn (Will) Dowd; and generations of loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two bonus children, Lenee Michelle and Melvin; and a host of family and friends.
There will be a Memorial Celebration with date and time TBD.
