Mother Rosetta (Hill) Jamerson, age 98, made her transition to her heavenly home June 14, 2025. She was born June 10, 1927, in Gary, Indiana to the union of Daniel Hill, Sr. and Naomi Alexander Hill. Her parents and four brothers, Daniel Jerome Hill, Rudolph Delano Hill, Dr. Paul Gordon Hill, and Kenneth Cornell Hill preceded her in death.
She received her education at Roosevelt High School in Gary, graduating in the class of 1944, and further education at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio and Indiana University Northwest.
She married Rev. Armstead Jamerson April 22, 1962. Their marriage of 56 years was a Christian Journey of love, honor, respect, and happy life together that was admired by all who knew them. Rev Jamerson made his transition to heaven February 28, 2018 after 60 years of devotion and dedication to Ministry, his family, home and church.
Mother Jamerson loved the Lord. She loved First Church of God as her family had always been faithful members. During her youth she was Youth Leader and Sunday School Secretary, as an adult she served in many leadership positions, Deaconess, Church Clerk, Charity Volunteers, Church Women United, Girl Scout Leader, Trustee, Lydia Missionary Circle, always busy serving and helping where needed.
Traveling was a big pleasure in her life and she was always ready to GO. She enjoyed traveling with Pastor Jamerson to different churches in various states for church meetings and conferences, to Anderson, Indiana every June, to West Middlesex, Pennsylvania every August. Mother Jamerson enjoyed planning and going with her family on vacations to historical places throughout the United States. Their travels also included the Caribbean Islands, Nassau, Cancun, Ocho Rios, Jamaica, Canada and Hawaii.
Mother Jamerson enjoyed taking care of her home and family. She would often proudly say "I did my best". She was employed by the State of Indiana Dept. of Welfare Administration for 36 years. She retired June 10, 1989.
She leaves fond memories to daughter, Paulette Jackson; son, Alan (Denise) Jamerson; grandchildren, Brian Jackson, Ashley Jamerson, Austin Jamerson and Clare Jackson; cousins, Evelyn (Irvine) Wallace and Prentiss Thomas; devoted cousin, Sandra Davis; godchildren, Anthony and Victor Kirkland, Reginald and Renard Smith; sister-in-law, Cynthia Hill; many relatives, church family and friends also shared her life and love.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 24, 2025, 4:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. with Family Hour 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408.
