Mr. Samuel Binns, Jr., age 89, of Gary, Indiana was born on October 27, 1930, in Monticello, Arkansas to the late Samuel and Charlie Vern Binns Sr. He went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August, 13, 2020. He joined in holy matrimony to Cleophas Harvey on May 27, 1948. Dreaming of a better life, Sam and Cleophas moved to Gary, Indiana in 1950. To this union five children were born, Ramona, Ellery, Debora, Charles and Sharon Binns- Magee. Sam began working at Inland Steel in 1947 and retired from the work force in 1987 after 40 years of service. Sam loved going to church, gardening, exercising and working in the neighborhood helping others. In the winter he would shovel the neighbors snow who were unable to do their own. In the summer you could find him cutting grass. On January 27, 2008, his beloved wife of 59 years passed away. Not wanting to be alone, he asked God for another chance at love. He met Veronica (Ronnie) Winters and they started out as good friends and that friendship turned into love and they married on September 14, 2010. Sam had a twinkle in his eyes once again. Ronnie cared for him 10 years with so much love, his children loved that about her. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Samuel and Charlie Vern Binns, Sr. first wife, Cleophas Binns; sisters, Shirley Haymon, and Flossie Wells; brothers, Calvin, Charles and Jewel Binns. He leaves to cherish his memory: loving wife, Veronica (Ronnie) Binns; sister, Bobbie Dunlap; children, Ramona, Ellery, Debora, Charles (Chris) Binns and Sharon (Darrell) Magee; four stepchildren, Robert Nichols, Jr., Reshanta Nichols, Renetta (Tracee) Taylor; and Jennifer Jones; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and cousins; special friend Reginald (Shug) Smith.
