Shirley Jovas, 83 of Hessville, In, passed away on Saturday December 23,2023. Shirley is survived by her husband of 63 years Leon; children Lisa (Randy)Jovas-Standish, son Jeff Jovas; 9 grandchildren: Megan, Adam, Tyffiny, Nichole, Savanah, Allyssa, Krista, and Kaylin, Kody; 16 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and close friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her daughters, Diana Gualandi, Michelle Jovas-Boysel, and son Brian Jovas.
Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family. There is nothing she wouldn’t do for any of them. She loved serving our Lord. Shirley was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Hessville. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society, Poor Handmaids Associate of Jesus Christ, St. Joseph Soup Kitchen, Bible Study, Mustard Seed Prayer Group, Intercessory Prayer, Eucharistic Minister, and Food Pantry of St. Catherine of Siena.
She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.
Visitation will be Friday December 29, 2023, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with Funeral Services at 1:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408. Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Perpetual Help 7132 Arizona Avenue Hammond, Indiana with Father Mosley, officiating.
