Talonda Lanee' Wheaton Hollies, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, touched the lives of all who knew her with warmth, grace, and a generous heart. She was born on February 5, 1973, at St. Mary Medical Center in Gary, Indiana, and carried light into every room she entered, leaving a lasting imprint on her family, patients, and community.
Talonda graduated from William A. Wirt High School in 1991,and went on to earn a nursing degree from Valparaiso University, laying a foundation for a lifelong commitment to care and service. She dedicated her career to nursing in Same Day Surgery and Recovery department with distinction, serving as a developed registered nurse at IU Health Hospital in Indianapolis and, for over twenty years, providing compassionate care at Powers Health, formerly St. Mary Hospital in Hobart, Indiana. Her clinical skill, empathy, and unwavering devotion to healing benefited countless patients and families.
Her faith and values were central to her life. Talonda attended New Life Worship Center in Indianapolis, where her faith, family, and community ties were strengthened. She faced life with resilience, humor, and steadfast belief in the goodness of others.
Talonda was preceded in death by her father, Elvin Jerome Wheaton, Sr.
She leaves to cherish: her loving husband of 22 years, Jimmie Dee Hollies; her son, Jaelon Marquis Hollies, a junior construction management major at Purdue University; her mother, Lynne Denise Wheaton of Gary, Indiana; her sister, Tamille (Jermaine) Jackson of Bolingbrook, IL., her brother, Elvin J. (Nicki) Wheaton of Gary, Indiana; niece, Paige; nephews, Jermaine, Jr., Caleb, Austin, Tyler, Caden, Elvin III (EJ), and Evan; favorite aunt, Marlene Browder; and extended family with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, who meant so much to her.
Talonda's presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will endure in every smile she sparked, every story she shared, and every life she touched.
"May her light continue to shine in our hearts as we honor her life, celebrate her legacy, and carry her love forward."
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408.
