Vernell Pickens

Vernell Pickens was born February 13, 1947, in Newport Oklahoma to Oscar and Pearlie Pickens.  He worked as a Supervisor at USX for over 45 years.  He served in the US Military Armed Services where he and his unit guarded the Berlin Wall.  Vernell was known as a quiet, soft spoken person, who would lend a hand to anyone in need. He leaves behind, loving wife, Tamara Pickens, daughter, Autumn Pickens, son, Michael (Jill) Pickens, stepson, Mark (Erika) Segrest, brother, Oscar Pickens, Jr., and sister, Flora Brown, mother-in-law, Janice Johnson, memories also cherished by granddaughters, Danielle, Alicia, Kalyn, and Nasya Pickens, Aleena Segrest, and Jada Oscar, grandsons, Michael J. Pickens and Mark Segrest III, and a host of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, other relatives and dear friends.  Services for Mr. Pickens are private.
