Wally M. Drazbo, age 68 of Macy, Indiana formerly of Dyer, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home after fighting a courageous two year battle with cancer. He was born in Hammond, Indiana on September 8, 1956, to Adam and Janina (Klos) Drazbo.
He was a 1974 graduate of Bishop Noll High School. Walter was employed at Inland Steel in East Chicago, Indiana for 33 years in multiple positions, until he landed a position as a diesel mechanic in the garage. After retiring he moved to Nyona Lake in Macy, Indiana where he enjoyed fishing, relaxing, pontoon and golf carts rides, he also worked at Kroger Fuel Center in Rochester, Indiana.
Walter married the love of his life, Karen (Swets) on September 2, 1978.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Janina Drazbo; and sister, Diane Korzeniewski.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Karen; brother, Richard (Mary) Pelc of McCordsville, Indiana; and sister, Elizabeth (Gary) Battenfield of The Villages, Florida; 2 nieces; 2 nephews; 5 great-nieces; 4 great-nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408. Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery 4401 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408.
