Wilbert Lee Powers

Mr. Wilbert Powers, age 90, of Gary, IN., passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Sunday, June 21, 2020.  Wilbert was born on October 19, 1929, in Whiting, IN. to the late Ottie and Beulah (Lanham) Powers.  Also, preceding him in death, wife, Katherine (Scott) Powers, daughter Amberlee  Berkman Powers; and sister Mildred Dean (Powers) Roby.  Wilbert is survived by his loving children, Sharon Jane Berkman, Bertha Karen Brown, Lucinda (Kenneth) Bauldauf and Delana (Paul) Mayer; and several precious grandchildren, adored great-grandchildren; other loving family members and dear friends.  Wilbert was a retired Electrician from LTV Steel.  He was a Navy Veteran who served on the U.S.S. Strong, and was a faithful member of Black Oak Baptist Church.  He was loved by all who knew him.  Visitation will be held Monday, June 29, 2020 from 9am-11am at Black Oak Baptist Church 6520 West 25th Ave. Gary, IN. followed by Funeral Service at 11am with Pastor Robert Parnell, officiating.  Burial will be at Ridgelawn Cemetery 4401 West Ridge Road Gary, IN. 46408.  Wilbert will be deeply missed by his loving family, church family and precious friends.  God Grant Him Eternal Peace.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Black Oak Baptist Church.
