Wildo Rafael Aponte, Sr.

In Loving Memory of Wildo Rafael Aponte, age 77, former resident of Hammond, Indiana, former employee/supervisor of Bethlehem Steel, entered eternal life on Saturday, March 6, 2021.

Wildo was a kind and loving husband, father of four, grandfather/great-grandfather.  He was a professional entertainer, song writer, and singer in his past years as a musician.  His hobbies were horse racing, playing golf, and baseball.  He also liked gardening, as well as enjoyed cooking for his family.

Wildo was very knowledgeable in the field of electronics, among other skills, being very creative and inventive which made him very handy around the house.  He was a God fearing and compassionate man and would give many people words of encouragement with spiritual guidance.

Wildo recorded gospel songs with 2 albums, one in English and one in Spanish.  Through them he gave many people inspiration and hope, always reaching out to people with his charismatic personality, trying to spread the words of God for the Lord Jesus.

He is survived by his wife: Carmen Velez Aponte, children; daughters, Diana Aponte, Veronica Aponte; sons, Willie Aponte, Michael Aponte; grandchildren; Luis Aponte, Corianna Dotson, Brianna Dotson, Alexis Aponte, Jessica Cuevas Gonzalez, Desiree Rodriquez; great-grandchildren; Juliet Gamez, Rolando Cuevas Gonzales; sisters, Alicia Velez, Sonia Prusinski; brother; Israel Aponte.

Wildo was loved by his family and friends, and will be greatly missed.  REST IN PEACE Wildo Rafael Aponte, r.

Visitation Friday, March 19, 2021, from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408.  Due to covid restrictions, only 50 people will be in attendance and face masks will be required.  May God bless the Aponte families.
